Every sound is a shape. Where they overlap, they mask.
A track that moves around the stereo field is drawn as several shapes, one per position, each lighting up only when it plays. Widening the track pulls them apart.

- Frequency. A shape covers only the range that is really there.
- Toward you
- Depth. Forward is louder, brighter and dry; back is quieter, duller and wetter.
- Why
- Hits that land in different places in the stereo field get their own shape
- Lit or dark
- Each one fades in only when that hit sounds
- Side edges
- Width — pulls the shapes apart or squeezes them to the middle
- Drag a dot
- Push that track forward or back
- Scroll on a shape
- Same thing, without leaving the shape
- What it does
- Two changes at once: level, and how much high end survives the distance
- Drag a dot
- Dry at the top, wet at the bottom. Nothing to do with depth.
- On the body
- A soft shell standing off it, growing as you go wetter
- Red arrow
- Pan
- Green arrow
- Tone — tilts the body brighter or darker
- Blue arrow
- Depth
- Drag sideways
- Pan
- Drag up / down
- Spectral tilt — brighter or darker overall
- Top edge
- Low-pass
- Bottom edge
- High-pass
- Draw
- Drag along an edge — push it in to cut, out to boost. One continuous curve, editable anywhere.
- Erase
- Drag over any part of the curve to lift it back to the track's natural shape
- Double-click
- Clear the whole curve
- Dotted outline
- The natural shape, shown whenever your curve departs from it
- Shaded band
- Only frequencies inside it can change, and its range is labelled in Hz
- Dashed outline
- Where the shape was before this stroke
- One stroke
- Moves a band by at most 15 dB, so nothing runs away. Stroke again to go further.
- Scroll
- Brush height
- Orange bands
- Two sounds fighting over the same frequency, position and moment
- Not shown
- Overlaps where one sound is far louder than the other. That is not a fight; one has already won.
- Sensitivity
- The slider by the collision list, if it reports more or less than you hear
- Carve
- Notches the lower-priority track where they collide
- Ctrl+Z
- Undo · Ctrl+Shift+Z to redo
- T / R / G
- Show or hide the timeline, track list, meters
- Flat / Room
- Two ways of drawing the same field. Flat keeps depth as size alone; Room puts it in perspective.
- Drag empty space
- Orbit the room
- Ctrl + scroll
- Zoom toward the pointer
- Zoom bar
- Bottom left — slider zooms about the middle, “fit” resets everything
- Shift + drag
- Slide the view
- View cube
- Drag to turn it, or click a face to snap square-on
